Wonderful of Modern home interior design

Wonderful of Modern home interior designFor a modern Londoner a dream home is synonymous with wider spaces and spectacular chic furnishings. Elegant and suave, the luxury home featured here has a predominant white backdrop enabling the designer to experiment and accessorise. White colour used in houses also emanates utmost cleanliness and neatness.

White living rooms are simple yet classy and at the same time allow the home to exude a mix of moods. This property by Light Locations, a UK based location agency, has a simple palette of white which is a perfect milieu for the modern finishes and features. An arty use of bright objet d’art, with ambient light fittings, upholstery and curtains is a creative high spot. The unexpected bright pink couch and black chesterfield makes the room pleasing and inviting. The white background has allowed the designer to play with contrasting artefacts in the wall unit, multicolour door wall panelling and exquisitely bright flower vase in corners. Vivid coloured furniture in bedroom, bath and kitchen give a touch of exclusiveness. The vast wood-framed windows recessed and elevated ceilings, the lagoon blue staircase that makes its way with poise from the main floor to the upper level, give a spa-inspired space of supreme luxury.

Interior design: create a beach themed bedroom

You can enjoy the summer all year round by creating a beach themed bedroom. When creating your beach themed bedroom, you will want to stay on track and avoid obvious themes to keep the room timeless and relaxing. Unless you have a love for the following, you will want to avoid designing the room around lighthouses, and over abundance of seashells and nautical themes. You want to create simple relaxed atmosphere, not overwhelm yourself with imagery.

Wall treatments: Use colors notorious for relaxation, comfort, and welcome. Pastel shades of green, yellow, off white, and blue are great colors to use. You can choose simple print wallpaper

in these colors or create a very simple faux wall treatment. You can do a light wash, paint simple stripes, swirls, or sponge imprint a simple shape onto the walls.

Window Treatments: Window treatments should be light and breezy. You want to be able to imagine these curtains blowing in the breeze. Hang simple tab top or tie top curtain panels on white painted wooden rods.

Furniture: Furniture should be kept simple and have a light relaxed atmosphere. You can purchase a wicker set that includes dresser, armoire, love seat, headboard and a bench for the foot of the bed. Other alternatives would be to white wash existing furniture by thinning white paint with water or a faux glazing product, and putting layers of paint on the furniture until you are satisfied with the color.

Bedding: If you feel a strong need to use a theme item in your room décor, this is the place you will to use it. This is an item that you will keep for a year or season only. Use the color from your walls as your background color, and then choose a pattern like seashells, lighthouses, or something abstract. Keeping the walls and bedding in the same color family will further promote rest and relaxation.

Flooring: A white washed wood floor would be ideal for this setting. If you are uncomfortable making permanent changes to your floor, you have other options. You can purchase a soft, lightweight, light colored throw rug, or a wall-to-wall carpet in pastel color like blue, mauve or light green.

Accessories: As long as the accessories are not expensive, this is another area to bring in themed items. However, you must be careful not to overwhelm. Your wall hangings, nick-knacks, and disposable items can be shaped like seashells, lighthouses, and anchors if you wish. You an make all of the accessories yourself by bringing home items from the beach to make shadow box collages, and to accessorize light weight wicker items like picture frames, lamps, wastebaskets, and laundry baskets. In addition to making items to decorate your room, bring some life into the room in the form of plants. Place both hanging plants and floor plants in from of the windows to bring a bit of summer time into the room. Balance the extra shade provided by the plants with extra light wattage into the room.

If you wish for a classic style for your interior decor space such as neoclassical, victorian, revival, you should try to add some richer, bolder colors, a sense of classic, touch of royalty to your home interior design. A dark red with a white chair rail and maybe some white picture frames would make for a great dining room. For your living room full bodied green such as a sage green. When trying to make a classic feel to your home remember the movies about the 14th, 15th, and 16th century and the classic ambiance of the mansions and estates. With any lucky your home will resemble a palace when completed.

Passive house - Home In The Middle of Nature

beukenburg 121009 08 Home In The Middle of Nature
This lovely Passive House estate was designed by Dutch architects Sluijmer & Van Leeuwen and is currently owned by the Utrecht Landscape Foundation. The villa represented a challenge from the very start.

Building something in the middle of nature is not always easy, because the resources are sometimes scarce.

Great Modern Passive House Passive Home
This is why a huge creative effort was needed in order to create this fantastic design with all the utilities included in a place surrounded by “185 hectares of forests and agricultural land”. Still, everything turned out great. The exterior design is something else and the interiors are beautiful and spacious. Have a pick at results in the pictures below!

Crazy About Montecito

Of all the places I've traveled to in the United States, Santa Barbara is probably my favorite.  To be more exact, Montecito.  If you can say a city or town has "it", this place definitely does.  With the beach, the mountains, the climate, the architecture, the food.  I just don't think it can get much better.
The times I've been there, I love to drive around to see all the incredible homes and gardens.  Many are very difficult to see from the road because of the enormous walls and most of the homes are set so far from the street.  Last time we were there we dragged the kids to an estate sale just so we could see the property -- the last thing kids want to do on a Spring Break.
Well known interior designer John Saladino's estate is one of these.  Fortunately, C Magazine, did a story on his incredible home (you can also see it in his book).
His Italianate villa was built in 1929 by architect and builder Wallace Frost.  Saladino did an incredible job of remodeling the house that is quintessential Monticeto.

The roof is 18th century Italian handmade terra-cotta tile.  He brought in more than 4,000 trees and shrubs including these incredible 50 year old Italian cypress trees.

The interior is just as amazing as the exterior.  Many of the interior walls are the same stone as the exterior.  The steel windows and doors are incredible.  We are currently building a Mediterranean house in Fort Worth with windows and doors very similar.

I love the urn set into the stone window surround.  The ivy covered wall in perfect.

The dining room, with the (what I believe to be) cypress paneling and ceiling and Italian chandelier is beautiful.
All of the above pictures from C Magazine.

Another well published interior designer, Michael Smith, did an incredible job at the former Pillsbury estate in Montecito -- Las Encintas.  This Portuguese-style house was originally a California Mission Revival house built in the 1890s and is set into the hillside.  It is much different from Saladino's but typical old Montecito.  More formal and crisp.

The tile in the living room and powder bath typical Portuguese and are handmade in Los Angeles.  We are using a very similar tile from the same tile company for a current job.

I love how Smith gave the powder bath a true Period Revival feel.

While I love my city, Montecito is one of those places that is just very difficult to beat.
All of the pictures of Las Encinitas come from Santa Barbara magazine.
